The Connection Between Appliances & Kitchen Design, featuring Trail Appliances Cloverdale

Trail Appliances Cloverdale is unlike any appliance showroom I have ever experienced. It is a walk through history and kitchen styles with one of the largest selections of cutting-edge appliances I have ever seen. My experience working on a few of the displays at Trail made me realize how important the connection between appliance aesthetic and kitchen design is – they should work together to tell the same story.

Luxury brands are about style and functionality. Miele, for example, believes in clean lines, flawless symmetry, and consistency. The display meticulously follows this superior aesthetic. Their appliance quality is extremely high, so they require luxurious cabinetry. When it comes to luxurious cabinetry, it all starts with the materials. In this display, the cabinet doors are cladded in copper; rift white oak is used as opposed to Thermofoil; two islands resembling sculptures of modern art anchor the display with edgy proportions. Miele’s display really highlights today’s modern luxury.

JennAir, another luxury brand, brings their display to a whole new level with its minimalist sophistication. JennAir appliances are as posh and modern, and their display fits that aesthetic perfectly. Dark grey cabinets, marble patterns, warm copper, and walnut accents complement each other in a spectacle of rich finishes.

KitchenAid on the other hand, is all about longevity and history. Their iconic retro-inspired stand mixer is a staple in new and old kitchens alike. KitchenAid is one of the oldest appliance companies on the market, turning 100 years old in 2019 – so it is no surprise that they went with a classic black and white color scheme. It is a contemporary look with a vintage twist – bringing a timeless elegance you will not get tired of.

When you think about cultural relevance in the appliance industry, there is no denying that La Cornue is rooted in a love for everything French. Imported directly from France, this display is a feast for the senses. The superior workmanship of the appliances is paired with meticulously handcrafted cabinets with metal inlays.

Samsung, a preferred brand of the younger generation, errs more toward the trendy side. Samsung’s display sets the standard for the new modern home. The Chef collection is a combination of cutting-edge technology paired with seamless design. The integrated flush mount and counter depth fridge add an element of sleekness to the design. The combination of slab doors with the matte dark finish and the two-tone color cabinets work together to showcase one of the latest and greatest kitchen trends.

Most people do not see a huge connection between appliances and kitchen design and think you can throw any appliances into any kitchen design. In reality, the style, color, and even history of appliance companies come into play and are incorporated heavily into the kitchen design palette. With that in mind, I would highly recommend choosing appliances early in your kitchen design process so that everything comes together seamlessly, and the design is not compromised by an appliance choice. The displays at Trail Appliances Cloverdale do a great job of articulating this connection, while also demonstrating the range and quality that the Kitchen Art Design team is capable of.
